JAVIER MAMANI, having been born in Salta, in the warm North of Argentina, land of boxing. Old fashioned boxing.

The left ahead, the right in the orthodox position, lateral movements. He has a powerful right hand, too. For some reason is called “La Cobra”, because he has a quick and lethal right hand. At 24 years old, the boxer conducted by Mario Margossian, has 16 KO victories in 28 wins, 4 loses and one draw. He is the current WBA Fedelatin junior middle champion.

LAST SATURDAY, Mamani defeated by points in 10 young Claudio Ariel Abalos, “El Chino” (14-4-2, 153 ½) at Argentine Boxing Federation stadium. Mamani (153) won easily, with his right hand as a Matador can use his sword, but Abalos was very strong, absorbing the punishment. Mamani is PABA junior middle champion, also. He captured the belt kayoing in first Zulfikar Joy Ali at Fiji Islands last December 10.
Right now, Mamani is waiting for an eliminatory bout with Canadian undefeated Joachim Alcine (26-0-0, 18 KO). Alcie have born in Haiti and his hometown is Montreal and is the current NABA junior middle champion, and WBC International champion.

WE HAVE TWO ways to make the fight”, says Margossian. “First, go to Canada on June 1st. I have asked for non Canadian judges or one Canadian, one from Argentina. If we don’t agree, we can make the bout next May at Cordoba, Argentina during the KO TO DRUGS meeting.

Personally, I think we will must go to Canada. Mamani will have a 45 full days of work for that fight. He is in a very good condition, especially in his mind. He knows he can do it”.

THE PROBLEM with Mamani was to know which was his real weight. He fought as a middle with opponents like Felix Sturm at Hannover (he weighed 158) or Mariano Carrera at Luna Park (156, WBO Latino vacant belt). When he established as a junior middle, things were different. He have defeated Walter Crucce, Charlie Joe Navarro, Juan Mariño (WBA Fedelatin vacant junior middle belt), or Jairo Siris. Mamani is a well-conditioned boxer, but sometimes he gets lost in the ring, like he was lost his ideas. But, when he is focused, is dangerous, especially with his right hand. So remember his name, because he is looking for to hit again…
