The WBA will reportedly elevate middleweight Gennady Golovkin from interim champ to regular champ [Felix Sturm is the WBA's super champion at the weight]. Golovkin will be allowed one mandatory defense (possible forNovember) and will then fight the winner of Hassan N´Dam vs Avantandil Khurtside - this fight have now been "reduced" to interim title status. When asked, the WBA championships committee director Gilberto Jesus Mendoza denied any decision has been made but that a resolution would be announced in a few days.

 

Equatorial Guinea, a small country, a former Spanish colony on Africa´s West Coast, will be hit by with their first professional boxing event on October 11 when lightweights Rudy Encarnacion and Hermin Isava headline a small show with four pro-fights. Tundra vs Barcelo promotes the historical event.

 

EBU heavyweight Aleksander Dimitrenko is now without a challenger after Russian Denis Bakhtov had to withdraw due to urgent surgery. Bahktov had replaced Audley Harrison.

 

Nathan Cleverly has relinquished the EBU light heavyweight title to concentrate on a world title shot. It will be former WBA king Gabriel Campillo and French veteran Thierry Karl that fight for the vacant title.
