As previously reported, a potential fight between Marco Antonio Barrera (66-7, 43KOs)and WBC champion Humberto Soto (53-7-2, 32 KOs) is in the works for the month of September. Top Rank CEO Bob Arum confirms the fight is being discussed with two possible dates, September 11 or September 25, in Mexico City. While not the biggest deal in the United States, the clash of Mexican stars is a huge deal in their country.

"It's definitely going to be Soto for Barrera and vice versa. Soto likes it. Barrera likes it," said Arum. "They both like it, and so it's going to be in September probably in Mexico City."

Arum predicts a very intense fight between two guys who were pondering this match for quite some time. A large crowd of supporters will show up to back Barrera, who is from Guadalajara, Jalisco, but born in Mexico City, and Soto is sure to have a good crowd of supporters coming down from Tijuana, Baja, California.

"Barrarea agianst Soto is a great match up," said Arum. "They've been eyeing each other for a long, long time, so this one, it's going to be a classic."
