WBC lightweight champion Edwin Valero and his team have left Venezuela and are heading to Monterrey, Mexico to finish training camp for the mandatory title defense against Antonio DeMarco on February 6. Valero, 26 wins with 26 knockouts, will not go head-hunting in the fight. He plans to put his punches together and win each passing round.

"I must be very careful, be very smart in the ring and give my best as I have always given in the ring. I think the fight is won not only in the ring, but also in the gym. He is very young and technically very skilled. The idea is out to win round by round, because that I am always focused to not go for a knockout because to win the fight itself," Valero said.

Mauricio Sulaiman, Executive Secretary for the WBC, sees a great fight and said DeMarco has the enough skill to win the fight by knockout.

"It is a function that would be great event anywhere in the world, Las Vegas, in Venezuela, and it is very interesting and certainly the match becomes interesting because Valero, could one day become one of Manny Pacquiao's opponents," Sulaiman said.

"Valero is boxer with a polished technique and has won every fight by knockout. On the other hand DeMarco is a boxer with a polished technique but also has a strong punch and is also a world champion. DeMarco has a very good technique. I think he could stay back by boxing a little and then being able to knock Valero out later [in the fight]."
