According to a report in Namibia Sport , Paulus “The Hitman” Moses (25-0, 17KOs) will defend his WBA lightweight title against Marco Antonio Barrera (65-7, 43KOs) in early January 2010. [Juan Manuel Marquez is the WBA's super champion at the weight]. The fight will take place in Los Angeles, California. Moses’ promoter and trainer Nestor Tobias held a press conference in Windhoek on Tuesday to announce the fight.

“Barrera is a great fighter – he has been a champion in three weight divisions and has been around for a long time,” Tobias said. "He has kept the boxing economy flowing. When he is fighting the whole world is watching and it will be a great opportunity for the Hitman to market himself."

Barrera has been on the shelf since the March TKO loss to Amir Khan. He will attempt, probably for the last time, to become the first Mexican fighter to win a fourth title in a fourth weight division. Barrera suffered a deep gash during the fight with Khan when the boxers clashed heads. The cut led to a fifth round stoppage. Barerra has been healing the wound for the last few months.

Moses told the paper that he was confident that he would do well against the veteran.

“I have seen some of Barrera’s fights and he is a good fighter but he will not be a problem for me. I am here for business and it will be a good fight. He has beaten a lot of guys but he has not fought me yet. When he fights me he will mis,” Moses said.

“I have been training hard and am in top shape. I have been running 10km each day Mondays to Fridays and Sundays. I am serious in my training and when I hit the road its like I am hitting Barrera."

[quote=Iceta;6527923]I don't really care for Barrera because of how he was always classless a lot of times and a dirty fighter, but he vindicated himself somewhat after he took the easy way out (Constantly fighting in surival mode) in the Pacquiao rematch. It took a lot of heart for him to keep ...
