In a follow-up to an earlier story posted on BoxingScene.com, the clash between Paul Williams and WBC junior middleweight champion Sergio Martinez will be contested at 160-pounds, and not at 154. There is a verbal agreement between both parties to fight on December 5 on HBO. The contracts have yet to be exchanged at the present but both sides are confident the deal will get done.

The exact weight was one of the roadblocks that both sides had to overcome. Williams had been training to fight middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik who withdrew two weeks ago with an injured left hand. After everything was said and one, I heard Martinez did not have a problem with the fight taking place at the middleweight limit. The exact venue is still up in the air.

[QUOTE=MJ406;6502358]Martinez very well could of asked for Middle, understandably so he can keep his belt regardless of the outcome but it is Paul's TV date and I would just think that Williams could be the one pushing the buttons. maybe when the Clottey negotiations blew up, Sergio said...

[QUOTE=Check;6496955]People complain far too much. If Martinez is the real deal he will be able to move up 6 lbs, it isn't that big of a deal. Problem is Williams is very skilled and will tax his ass at 54 or 60. Its obvious that Williams will never touch welter and probably isn't going to be fig...

No way WILLIAMS will lose this one. Don't expect any surprises from MARTINEZ. He's a solid fighter but not in the league of WILLIAMS.
