BoxingScene.com speaks to light middleweight up and comer Alfredo "Perro" Angulo after he finished a training session for his upcoming fight with Harry Joe Yorgey.   El Perro (16-1) speaks about the keys to victory and his dream of defending a world championship in front of his hometown fans in Mexicali, BC Mexico one day after earning a title.

BoxingScene.com: How is training camp going for Harry Joe Yorgey?

Alfredo Angulo:  Everything is going good.  We are working hard and everything is going as planned. I am training up here in New Jersey and everything is going smooth.  It makes it easier to go to press conferences and other requirements for HBO if I am on the east coast for my training camp and thats why we decided to have our camp here.

BoxingScene.com:  What are the keys to the fight?

Alfredo Angulo:  It is going to be a good fight.  He (Yorgey) is a great fighter.  He likes to throw a lot of punches so it makes for an interesting fight.  Like always I will be applying pressure and throwing combinations.

BoxingScene.com:  Have you seen much tape on him?

Alfredo Angulo:  Yes I have had the opportunity to see some of his fights.  I have been able to watch how he fights.  He just seems to always be throwing punches.

BoxingScene.com:  I spoke to Harry and to his trainer Jack Loew a couple weeks ago.  They told me that they think Harry's strength is going to surprise you.  What is your response to that?

Alfredo Angulo:  Thats ok.  They can think what they want.  I know he is a good fighter.  He has that good of a a record (22-0-1) for a reason.  It should be a great fight.  If they think I am going to be surprised at how strong he is well they have to wait tll November 7th and then they will see how surprised I am. (laughing).  We are ready for anything they bring, don't worry Ryan.

BoxingScene.com:  If you hand Yorgey his first loss in front of a national audience on HBO what do you think that does for your career?  Do you think it will get you consideration for a title shot?

Alfredo Angulo:  Well they (WBO) are calling this an elimination bout so I would think it would get me closer to a title shot.

BoxingScene.com:  Assuming you get the win what are your plans for 2010?

Alfredo Angulo:  Well 2010 isn't here yet.  I am just worried about 2009 and this fight with Yorgey now.  You know me Ryan, I always take it one fight at a time.  I am focused on November 7th and nothing else.  If I come out of that fight with a win like I plan, I will sit down with Gary (Shaw) and we will make the best decision for our
future.

BoxingScene.com:  Switching up a little have you thought about having another fight in your hometown of Mexicali (Mexico)?

Alfredo Angulo:  That is something I really want to do.  Its been a long time (2006) since I fought in Mexicali.  There hasn't been a champion from Mexicali since El Maromero (Jorge Paez) and I would love to win a world championship and have one of my title defenses in Mexicali.

BoxingScene.com:  That would be nice.  Fighting in front of a lot of your hometown fans.

Alfredo Angulo:  That is what I hope (laughing).

BoxingScene.com: Including this fight three out of your last four fights will have been on the east coast.  Are you trying to get more fights in California and Vegas where you have a bigger fan base?

Alfredo Angulo: That is something that I have spoken to Gary about.  I think that as long as everything goes right on November 7th that will happen.  I told him that I really want to fight in California. Especially in Los Angeles.  In Los Angeles and Las Vegas the fans really get behind me and I would like to build on that.

BoxingScene.com:  On the other hand fans back east are getting to know you and see your style.

Alfredo Angulo:  Yes it is good that a lot more people get a chance to see a great show when El Perro fights.  I think my style is fan friendly.  I want to have fans all over the country, not just in one area.  I think one of my fights in the near will be in LA or Las Vegas.

BoxingScene.com:  Do you have a message for the fans?

Alfredo Angulo:  Like I always say Ryan, whenever you see an advertisement for an upcoming fight with Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo on it you know its going to be a great fight.  I don't think November 7th is going to be anything different.  I want to thank all the fans for their support.
I checked Ronald Hearns record before the Yorgey fight, seems he was 10 pounds lower than his regular weight and had only fought at 154 once. Looks like he left his fight in the gym at 151. Jenny Craig isn't for everybody.
Nah it wasn't like that. EArly one H...

I went to high school with yorgey. I didnt think he would win in his last fight. But this fight I give him a big edge. I would put some $$ on him to win.

This isn't going to be a blow out. I favor Angulo here, but Yorgey is a live dawg. Don't be shocked if he wins enough rounds to pull this one out.
