David Haye is backing countryman Audley Harrison to make a big return in the heavyweight division. Haye, who challenges WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev on November 7, says Harrison looked very good during his three wins to capture the crown at the recent Prizefighter III heavyweight tournament. Haye is realistic when it comes to Harrison's competition that night. He says the 2000 Olympic gold medal winner needs to apply the same tools at a higher level. If he can, Haye believes that Harrison can do big things at the weight. In the last few years, Harrison's career has been up and down. He suffered four defeats since 2005.
"I definitely think he can. He showed a lot of good stuff in that tournament. He got like two stoppages in three fights. He won them all pretty comfortably. He was fighting a lower level than he has been fighting in the past. If he can take them same performances and do them at a higher level [like] the British level, the European level, the Commonwealth level - then he's definitely in the right direction," Haye told Sky Sports.
"But it's definitely a good step back. He's had a bad form as of late. He needed these three wins on the spin to get some momentum back in his career and get all the eyes back on him. If he can keep the same momentum going, he can potentially beat good people."
