BoxingScene.com has heard from multiple sources that former junior welterweight champion Kendall Holt is being considered as the opponent for ex-welterweight champ Joshua Clottey on December 5 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The fight would take place in the co-feature slot on HBO, with Kelly Pavlik-Paul Williams in the main event. As far as I've heard HBO has not approved Holt as the opponent, yet.
Holt is dangerous puncher at 140. I don't know how much of a threat he will be at 147. Clottey is not a big puncher but his chin is rock solid. He took the best punches that Margarito and Cotto had to offer and I'm confident he can take anything Holt dishes out. Holt's chin is in question but I think he take Clottey's best. If Diego Corrales was able to go the distance with Clottey, I think Holt can too. But Clottey is a very physical fighter and I'm not confident in Holt's ability to keep him back.
