BoxingScene.com was advised that the WBO has issued a ruling on the Timothy Bradley-Lamont Peterson purse split dispute. The sanctioning body has ordered a 60/40 split, with 60% going to the junior welterweight champion Bradley and 40% going to the interim-champion Peterson. The fight is scheduled for December 12 at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California. Showtime will televise.

The two sides have been at war since the day Gary Shaw, promoter of Bradley, put in the winning purse bid at the WBO's offices in Puerto Rico, and then the sanctioning body directed both sides to use "Section 13" of their rules and regulations to determine the purse split. Under Section 13, Peterson, due to his status as the interim-champion, would have received 60% of purse if the fight was staged in Bradley's home state of California. The WBO would later adjust the split to an even 50-50.

Bradley's team appealed the ruling by the WBO, demanding the use of Section 14 as the proper guildline for the purse split. On September 11, the WBO granted the appeal of Bradley's team, which gave their fighter a 78-22 [based on the math of Section 14]. Top Rank [promoter for Peterson] appealed the September 11 ruling. They demanded a 50-50 split, or in the alternative a 60-40 split.

The situation seems to be resolved - and now we have a fight.

Peterson is decent, but Bradley is better. Desert Storm wins the decision here.

[QUOTE=Dave Rado;6171263]You're missing my point in mentioning Roach. He is one of the most influential people in the sport and he's the trainer of the boxer you were referring to. If Pac's trainer doesn't acknowledge the existence of the lineal title, Pac probably doesn't either - and he has cer...

[QUOTE=DC Fight Fan;6171187]Peterson is plenty experienced in relation to Bradley. Bradley's only real experience advantage is in spotlight fights. But I don't think the stage will bother Peterson at all. I have Peterson by UD or late round stoppage from an accumulation of body punches. Peterson ...

[QUOTE=HeartAttack;6170999]That doesn't take away the fact that the lineal champion at 130 moved up to fight the lineal champion at 140 at the 140lb weight limit and knocked him out in the 2nd round. Whether Freddie Roach realizes the importance of such is nonconsequential. Roach is a damn fine...
