Juan Manuel Marquez Wants a Ricky Hatton Showdown

The name Juan Manuel Marquez is thinking about at the moment is Ricky Hatton. Marquez gave an honest effort during last Saturday's decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Las Vegas. Marquez is the current holder of the WBO/WBA lightweight titles. He would like to drop down to 140-pounds and land a fight with Hatton.

"I would like to get the opportunity at junior welterweight to fight Ricky Hatton," Marquez said.

If Marquez is unable to get Hatton, he would likely drop all the way back to lightweight. Then he would need to make a decision on what to do next. He would owe a mandatory bout to WBO interim-champion Michael Katsidis. In his recent interviews, Hatton doesn't sound like a fighter who plans to return to the ring in the near future. He admits not having the desire to train or diet. Katsidis looked good in winning the title with a decision over Vicente Escobedo on the Mayweather-Marquez undercard. The WBO will order the Katsidis fight very soon and Marquez will either have to take it or walk away.

Marquez should definitely spend his last years trying to get a 140lb belt. Even if he has to come in at 138. He should play to all his strengths on this one. Bring on Hatton, and depending on how he looks...bring on Bradley after that. I really think a fight with Bradely would be decent. Brad...

tough fight for both guys if you ask me...jmm looks to struggle a bit with the added weight...and hatton's chin isnt what it used to be...but i see hatton winning if his chin can hold up but jmm would give him one hell of a rough time:boxing:
Hatton should pretend the fight is at 140... then show up at 142. Marquez can be punked like that.
So you're pretty much an advocate of fighters acting like scum bags. Nice to see.
