Former champion Cristian Mijares is pondering a possible rematch with fellow Mexican, Jorge Arce. Mijares has lost his last three fights, getting knocked out last August by Vic Darchinyan and losing two decisions this year to Nehomar Cermeno. He dominated Arce on route to a twelve round decision in 2007. Arce has had his own share of bad luck, recently being dominated by undefeated South African fighter Simphiwe Nongqayi.

"Something we haven't ruled out is a possible rematch with Jorge Arce. I said to myself 'why not?' I'm only talking about this as possibility and not like something that has already been presented to us," Mijares told ESTO.

Mijares announced his retirement after his last defeat but retracted the statement the very next day. He admits it was a mistake to announce his retirement. He says it was due to frustration over the Cermeno loss.

"In truth I believe that I was too quick in announcing my retirement immediately after my loss on September 12 in Monterrey. There was so much my frustration and the pain from listening to the decision of the judges that my only thought was to walk away from boxing," Mijares said.

"There is still no definite plan in the an immediate future but for that we will have time. I'm too young to retire and I still have a lot to give to boxing."

Both these guys are pretty much done, but Mijares might still be able to win again, just not as handily.
