At the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, WBA featherweight champion Chris John (43-0-1, 22KOs) won a twelve round decision over Rocky Juarez (28-5-1, 20KOs) to retain his title. The scores were 114-113, 119-109 and 117-111.

John started a boxing pace in the first round that Juarez was never able to overcome. Juarez was not active enough and couldn't catch up to John. Unlike the first fight, John was outboxing Juarez at a pace that saw no end. Like the first fight, Juarez came on strong in the championship rounds and swelled up the face of John. During the final 30 seconds of the twelfth, Juarez landed an inside left hook that really hurt John. Juarez poured on the punches, battering John bad but the clock ran out. John was very close to going down.
