BoxingScene.com has been advised that representatives for WBA light heavyweight champion Gabriel Campillo and challenger Beibut Shumenov have announced that they have agreed to a rematch, thereby resolving all of their present disputes. On August 15, Campillo came from behind to upset Shumenov by majority decision in Kazakhstan.

In only his ninth fight as a pro, Shumenov came very close to winning the title. The aftermath saw a lot of accusations being tossed around. Several reporters who were lucky enough to cover the fight, told me it was one of the best action bouts of the year. I was told the bout will likely take place in Nevada next January.
