BoxingScene.com was advised by Sampson Lewkowicz, promoter for WBO super flyweight champion Marvin Sonsona, that he would never allow his fighter to take part in an all-Filipino clash with WBA interim-champion Nonito Donaire.

"I love the Philippines. I would never allow such a thing to happen with two Filipino champions fighting each other. I believe the more Filipino champions there are, the better it is for the country of the Philippines. I won't let them fight regardless of the money," Lewkowicz said.

We touched on the recent comments that were made by Donaire's father, Nonito Donaire Sr, who happens to be the co-trainer of Sonsona. Several Canadian reporters claim that Donaire Sr, in response to a question regarding whether or not Sonsona was ready to fight someone like Donaire, said "[Sonsona] is ready to fight him [Nonito Doniare] now."

Lewkowicz said the comment was taken out of context by local reporters. Donaire Sr's response did not imply that he wanted Sonsona to fight his son.

"It was a very emotional moment [after Sonsona's win over Jose Lopez]. That wasn't what he meant. I believe the comments were taken out of context," Lewkowicz said.
