Former champion Rafael Marquez plans to return to action on August 22 in Guadalajara, Mexico in another tuneup to shake off some rust. A few weeks ago Marquez was involved in a bad car accident but managed to walk away with minor injuries. He is back in the gym training hard.
"In a stroke of lucj, everything turned out well after the accident. There were only some scratches and we are already training hard to come back in Guadalajara against an opponent from Nicaragua," Marquez told The Record.
Marquez says the next step would be a fourth fight with Israel Vazquez in October.
"We already know the fight will be at featherweight. Israel wants it and I also want it. We will pick up the same rhythm again and I'm sure the fight will be exciting like the previous three," Marquez said.
