Sources have indicated to BoxingScene.com that former champion Steve Forbes (34-7, 10KOs) is close to signing a promotional contract with Lou DiBella. In May of 2008, Forbes was in the highest profile bout of his career when he moved up in weight by nearly two weight divisions to drop a twelve round decision to Oscar De La Hoya. He returned that September, in the welterweight division, and lost a decision to WBC champion Andre Berto.
With all of the big opportunities at 140-pounds, like Amir Khan, Manny Pacquiao, Timothy Bradley, Nate Campbell and the yet to be officially retired Ricky Hatton - I would expect Forbes to return to his natural weight junior welter.
