After the event was over in Hamburg, Germany, promoter Dan Goossen gave me ring to to discuss Eddie Chambers' majority decision win over previously undefeated Alexander Dimitrenko. The fight was WBO mandatory eliminator for a shot at the title currently held by Wladimir Klitschko.

Goossen gives a lot of credit to Chambers' trainer, Rob Murray Sr. Chambers was in the best shape of his career and weigh-in on Friday at the second lowest weight on his record, 208-pounds. Chambers weighed 223 for his February decision win over Sam Peter. Murray is the man who Goossen credits with pushing Chambers to the limit in the gym.

"I think this was a victory for Rob Murray Sr. I think Rob has gotten into Eddie's head and body, and now we are seeing the results after five fights. We always knew that Eddie had the talent. Rob Murray has finally dragged that talent out," Goossen said.

As far the next move for Chambers, a fight with Klitschko is a long time away. Wladimir must make his first WBO mandatory defense against Alexander Povetkin. The fight might happen in September. Wladimir may or may not fight again until 2010 and there is still a question as to whether he would be allowed a voluntary defense before he was forced to honor Chambers' shot.

Goossen will not keep Chambers on the sidelines. He plans to keep him very busy until the title opportunity comes up.

"Klitschko has to make his mandatory against Povetkin first. Eddie will not be kept on the shelf. We plans to keep him very busy. I think we are are seeing 50% of his best right now. I believe the more he fights, the better he is going to get," Goossen said.

I don't know about the Wlad vs Chambers fight happening at all, specially if they force Wlad into this fight before June 2010. I think Chambers does not get the public attention enough and there are other fights Wlad would like to take before this one, maybe he would just vacate the WBO, let Cham...
Wise decision - Goossen is one of the best promoters. Inactivity ruins a boxer, they need to stay active to be at their best.
Case in point Tunney. Before this fight, Dimitrenko had only fought twice in 2008-2009 compared to Chambers five fights in 2008-2009. I t...

I would like to see a rematch between Povetkin and Chambers, which is a possibility. Wladimir said he would like to fight Haye in September, I don't know if the IBF would allow it.
Dangerous fight for him imo. Kevin Johnson is pretty good himself. Toss up fight.
That wouldn't be a bad fight. I think Chambers beats him UD.
