Heavyweight contender David Haye has fired back at WBO/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. Haye was scheduled to face Klitschko on June 20. He withdrew with a back injury and was quickly replaced by undefeated Ruslan Chagaev, who Klitschko stopped after nine rounds in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Klitschko dominated Chagaev from start to finish but the fight was far from exciting. Wladimir vowed to close the "dirty mouth of Haye" in the future. First up is a mandatory defense against Alexander Povetkin in September. Haye may be forced to fight older brother WBC champion Vitali Klitschko instead.

Haye says Klitschko sold most of his 60,000-plus tickets because fans wanted to see the two of them fight. He said the fight with Chagaev put people to sleep and was critical of Wladimir's desire to take any chances by ending the fight earlier.

"Wladimir sold 65,000 tickets off the back of the fact he was going to fight me. None of his fights prior to that have come anywhere close to that because he's a boring, un-entertaining fighter," Haye told Sky Sports News. "It's just unfortunate that I got the injury in training but he just went out and did his usual thing. For me, he's Wladimir 'the cure for insomnia' Klitscho. He couldn't be more boring.

"He had the guy beat from round one, but he let it go on for nine rounds. He didn't knock the guy out, the guy retired in his corner and it's that sort of performance, which just shows why he hasn't got a very big fan base. For me, to be the number one in the world you've got to beat both the Klitschko brothers. His brother hasn't got any obligations and he's free in September so we'll see if that's a possibility. If it's Wladimir first or Vitali first it doesn't bother me. I've got to fight both of them anyway so I don't care which one comes first."

Haye promised to put on a much better fight when he steps in the ring with Klitschko. He said Wladimir's past opponents fight him exactly the same way and that's the reason why they get dominated.

"The fight makes sense once I'm healthy and I guarantee it'll be much more exciting than that snoozefest that he put us through last night. Everybody that fights him has no head movement and no clue, they don't move their feet and they're just sitting ducks," Haye said.

"Anyone who watches me knows I don't go out there and get hit by silly shots I go out and throw angles. I throw punches in clusters and I've got a clue about how to fight. I was the undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world and I was that for a reason.

"He's a lot bigger than me but he's a hell of a lot slower. He looks petrified whenever anyone considers throwing a punch at him - he runs across the ring, arms out, looking terrified. Nobody is really interested in seeing him fight they just want to see me fight, so me and him is the biggest fight out there. Lets make it happen."
