| Jorge Barrios Injured, Withdraws From Hernandez Fight
|
|
By Rick Reeno BoxingScene.com has learned that Jorge Barrios suffered an eardrum injury during training camp and was forced to withdraw from his upcoming lightweight bout with Carlos Hernandez. The fight was going to be televised on April 4 as part of Golden Boy's "Lightweight Lightning" pay-per-view from San Antonio, Texas. There was a lot of steam behind Barrios, who exchanged some harsh words with Edwin Valero [fights in the April 4 main event] during the California press conference to announce the pay-per-view card that features four lightweight fights. Because of their pre-fight fireworks, both camps were hoping for the two fighters to win their respective bouts and then meet down the line. There has been no word as to a possible replacement for Barrios. |
Edner Cherry doesn't deserve it. You could argue same with Hernendez, but who would want to see Cherry-Hernendez, when there is a better option. Maybe Anthony Peterson.
Other candidates that I wouldn't mind:
-Bredis Prescott
-Anthony Peterson
-Tony Demarco
-J... |

According to the ring's website, there is still a chance he could fight. He's seeing a specialist on monday to see how it is. |
