The WBC has notified all of the necessary parties that March 13 has been stamped in stone as the official purse bid date for the long overdue junior middleweight bout between champion Vernon Forrest and interim-champion Sergio Martinez.

All bidders have been directed to arrive at Mexico City office of the WBC at 12 noon. The WBC has also ruled on a 55-45 split in favor of the full champion.

Should Forrest take another fight, Martinez will receive an upgrade to full champion status. Forrest is one of the names being considered by Top Rank for [WBC/WBO middleweight champion] Kelly Pavlik's summer return in June/July.

I don't have much hope that this fight happens. Forrest may find a way to weasel out of fighting a lefty.
That would be the smartest thing for him to do money wise and it would give Pavlik a decent opponent. IMO even in this late stage of his career hes still better then Duddy.
Yes, I would sooner see Pavlik fight Forrest than Duddy. He'd be a better name on...

I will not believe Forrest will fight Martinez until I actually see him step in the ring with him. If they can agree on a contract I will put it as 50/50 odds for the fight taking place, but no better.
