On the untelevised portion of Darchinyan-Arce from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Vanes Martirosyan (23-0, 14KOs) would keep his undefeated record intact as he was able to decision Billy Lyell (18-7-3KOs) over 8 rounds. Martirosyan actually looked flat in his performance as Lyell was a live opponent and was even beating Martirosyan to the punch at times. Lyell gained more confidence as he had success not only backing Martirosyan up but landing some good shots. Martirosyan proved to be too skillful in the end as his jab and follow up rights would grind out a unanimous decision victory for him with scores of 79-73, 78-74 and 80-72.

In the most exciting of the untelevised fights, undefeated Chris Avalos (9-0, 7KOs) squared off against Denver, CO native Torrance Daniels (12-9-1, 5KOs) in an 8 round bout. In the 2 nd round, both fighters traded furiously as Avalos got the best of the exchanges and managed to drop Daniels. Daniels got up and tried to fight back but Avalos continued to beat him to the punch. Avalos would drop Daniels for a 2 nd time in the 7 th round with a straight right and although Daniels survived the round, his corner decided to stop the fight before the 8 th and final round.

Travis Kauffman (16-0,13KOs) made easy work of journeyman Cliff Couser (26-18, 14KO’s) by stopping him the very first round. Couser didn’t put up much of a fight as Kauffman unleashed a barrage of punches forcing referee Raul Caiz Sr to put a halt to the bout.

Houston native Omar Henry improved to 3-0, 3KOs as he finished his opponent Francisco Martinez (0-3) in the first round. After landing a hard flush left hand that got the small early crowd’s attention, Henry followed it up with a straight right that put Martinez down for good as the referee waived off the fight.
