THREE aging former Philippine champions suffered defeats at the hands of separate highly world-rated Thai foes in Manorom District, Chainart, Thailand.

Former two-time Philippine super flyweight king and PABA super flyweight boss Rey Llagas and ex-RP bantamweight ruler Joel Bauya, lost unanimous decisions while former RP bantamweight titlist Julius Tarona was annihilated.

The 34-year old Llagas, who resides in Valencia, Bukidnon, lost a shutout 120-108 verdict from three judges over 12 rounds to David Lookmahanak for the WBC Asian Boxing Council super flyweight title in the main event of a card held this past Thursday night.

This was the fourth defense of the WBC's No. 22 ranked Thai champ while it was a back-to-back taste of defeat of Llagas after his Nov. 6 setback to ex-OPBF super bantam champ Manabu Fukushima in Tokyo.

The 30-year old Bauya, who lost the Philippine bantam belt against Michael Domingo last month, almost matched the firepower of former WBC bantam king Veeraphol (Sahaprom) Nakhonluang, now rated No. 2 in the world by WBC, in their 10-round bout. But the all-Thai judges favored their compatriot with identical 98-93 decisions.

Tarona failed to contain the hard punches of WBC international super bantam king, Napapol Kiattisakchokchai, as he lost in 9 rounds.
