After the fight appeared to be a dead issue, a potential meeting between Jermain Taylor and WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch, is back on the table.

From what various sources have told BoxingScene.com, Froch's promoter, Mick Hennessy, contacted Showtime and was willing to accept an offer that was marginally higher than the previous deal presented in December. The fight will take place, if everything comes together, on one of the last two Saturday dates in the month of April.

The biggest roadblock right now is the situation with Allan Green. There was a verbal deal for a fight between Taylor and Green for March 28. Green has already begun training camp.

One solution that was thrown around for a few days was for Green to fight in the opening bout against someone like an Andre Ward. A network source told BoxingScene “there is not enough money for Ward-Green [for that show] because the bulk of the budget will go to the main event.” If there is going to be a co-feature with Green, it won’t be anything spectacular.

When reached for comment, Lou DiBella [Taylor’s promoter] seemed very positive about the two sides reaching a deal.

“My kid was never ducking the fight. He always wanted the fight. Showtime wants it. I’m working on the details right now to finalize the fight. Hopefully we can finalize something in the next few days and Showtime can make an official announcement by the weekend,” DiBella said.

[QUOTE=javelin_fangs;4701480]If I was Andre Ward I'd take the Green fight on a Taylor-Froch undercard. He can make more money in the summer if he fights Green and wins than he would if he tried to hold out because there's no guarantee that any other fight is going to lead him into a title match ...

Make this god damn fight happen please. This co-feature would be wicked too, good way to build up a future fight between the 2 winners.

Dibella represents both taylor and green
