BoxingScene.com has been advised by multiple sources that Disney, the parent company of ESPN, has made the order to drop the Wednesday Night Fights series, and to focus everything on the Friday Night Fights series in 2009.

The only positive that I'm hearing is the possibility of the network using some of the saved funds from WNF to upgrade some of the Friday night cards.

whats almost depressing is that if a fight is being featured on FNFs, no one will care about it, and automatically will write it off even if it involves really good fighters. like Sakio Bika vs. Lucian Bute. people would be all over that fight if it was on HBO, but not many people cared about ...
