There were plenty of rumors in the pre-fight hype that undefeated two-division champion Joan Guzman (28-0, 17 KOs) was having issues with his weight. Those issues validated as Guzman was 3.5 pounds over the 135-pound limit for Saturday's bout with IBF/WBO/WBA lightweight champion Nate Campbell (32-5-1, 25 KOs) at the Beau Rivage Theatre in Biloxi, Mississipi.

Guzman hits the scales, coming in at 138.5-pounds. He has two-hours to lose the weight. Campbell was initially a bit over at 135.2, then made the limit on his second try.

The co-feature saw WBC junior welterweight champion Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley (22-0, 11 KOs) weigh in a bit over the limit at 140.3, the make 139.8 on his second try. Challenger Edner “Cherry Bomb” Cherry (24-5-2, 12 KOs) weighed in fine at 139.2.

Update - Guzman never came back to make the lightweight limit after two-hours. The word at the moment, a deal was reached for the fight to go on as a non-title contest.

[QUOTE=Sweet Revenge;4060067]First off, for a fighter at the championship level, failing to make weight is inexcusable on all fronts. Forget the conditioning coaches and trainers, they aren't world champions. As a champion, you have a responsibility to uphold the standards of the business, and th...
