The dream for Julio Cesar Chavez is to see his son, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, face off with Oscar De La Hoya on May 5, 2009 at Azteca Stadium in Mexico, which holds over 100,000 fans.

De La Hoya turned down a fight with Julio Jr. for December, stating that the younger Chavez was not yet ready for him. Chavez Sr. disagrees, and says that De La Hoya was the same age as his son when the two  fought for the first time in 1996. Chavez Sr. is not happy that with De La Hoya fighting Manny Pacquiao on December 6.

"[If he thinks he's not ready] then put him to the test to see if he's not ready. My son is the same age as Oscar when we fought. I also thought the same thing, that he was ready," Chavez Sr told ESTO. "That time I came to fight with a cut and the second time I was no longer hungry. De La Hoya wants to fight with boys. Pacquiao is a flyweight who came up to lightweight."

Chavez Sr. says that De La Hoya should fight someone like WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito if he doesn't plan on fighting his son. He called the fight with Pacquiao a farce, and said the Mexican fans will see through the ploy and support Pacquiao to win.

"Why does he look for easy opponents or those that are not at his weight. Pacquiao can fight with, yes, but for the money," Chavez Sr said.

"You know when Pacquiao is going to beat him? Never! He believes that Mexicans are going to want this, to the contrary, they go to go with Pacquiao. Pacquiao is smaller than me, is he crazy or what? I would bet my life that Julio would knock De La Hoya out and I would wager $5 million that my son beats him."

I think it shows how classless that drunk/cokehead Chavez really is... the fact to the matter is Chavez was overrated to the max, so then along came a real fighter with superb boxing skills that gave Chavez the 2 worse beating he had ever gotten...If Oscar fought an over the hill Chavez then how...
DLH may have been the same age as Chavez Jr. but he was on a whole different level.
Absolutely, when dlh made his pro debut, he had already won olympic gold, when Chavez jr made his pro debut, he had zero amateur fights..

Chavez Junior couldn't even beat Vanda, In fact the entire stadium was booing him because Vanda was clearly robbed, How the hell does his Dad expect him to beat De La Hoya! Mexicans obviuosly support their own just like any other ethnicity but they are fair that why they cheered for Vanda

JCC is absolutely right. Oscar you bitch, how dare you. The only people who will pay for this fight are the ones who have "!stupid!" written all over them.
