Pacquiao's Team To Ask For Bigger Fines On Oscar

According to The Philippine Star, Team Pacquiao will make a demand for a bigger fine on Oscar De La Hoya for any excess weight above the agreed upon limit of 147-pounds. As previously reported, Manny Pacquiao and his team are concerned with De La Hoya's ability to make 147 and refuse to take any chances with De La Hoya coming in overweight on the day of the weigh-in.

It appears that Franklin Gacal, Pacquiao's lawyer, feels the previous fine request of $750,000 per pound is too small. In reality, he's probably right. While Gacal would not disclose the amount he will seek, some have said that a $1 million dollar fine per pound is the likely amount to be requested.

“We’ve just decided that it (penalty) should be increased because $750,000 is peanuts for Oscar De La Hoya,” said Gacal to The Star. “Oscar De La Hoya would be more than willing to pay $750,000 (per pound) and would come in at 150-plus during the weigh-in. The penalty will be commensurate to his (De La Hoya) pocket."

Richard Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions, and Bob Arum of Top Rank are scheduled to meet on Wednesday to finalize a possible deal that have Pacquiao move up from lightweight to welterweight to face De La Hoya on December 6 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Some of the items to be discussed include weight, the gloves, and various monetary percentages.

What a stupid fight!! DLH isnt gonna come in at 147! Pacman will get a beating and DLH will call it a "great victory" to end his career, forever reminding us in ever interview that he beat the P4P#1 in his final fight....
