Sources close to the situation have informed BoxingScene.com that a proposed Shane Mosley vs. Ricardo Mayorga HBO pay-per-view, previously scheduled for October 11, is possibly going to move to September 27 on regular HBO.

The September 27 date was set aside for Kelly Pavlik, but as Steve Kim already reported, HBO wants Pavlik to face former light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins on pay-per-view on October 18.

The move for Mosley-Mayorga is due to the heavy competition from the dueling card on Showtime, which is set to feature Antonio Tarver vs. Chad Dawson and a tape delay showing of the long awaited heavyweight bout between Samuel Peter and the returning Vitali Klitschko.

Speaking of Peter-Klistchko, word on the street is that HBO is looking to infiltrate the agreement with Showtime and pull that fight to their network on the now open October 11 date. Strong sources indicate the fight is going to stay on Showtime.

Unless mosely has turned 'old' overnight, I see this going the same way the mayorga/de la hoya fight went. Mayorga can't handle skilled guys. But, if you put him in with some-one who wants to fight rather then box, then he has a chance!
