It appears�negotiations for a fight�with WBO welterweight champion Paul Williams have hit a snag, and now there are serious talks to match WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik against former light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins on October 18 in Atlantic City. The fight would land on HBO pay-per-view.

MaxBoxing/BoxingScene.com's Steve Kim broke the news of the possible Pavlik-Hopkins encounter, no word yet on the agreed upon weight. Hopkins last fought in April, losing a split-decision to Joe Calzaghe.

i want to see pavlick do some damage with a tko or ko. This would casue joe calslappy to suddenly retire after the jones fight

damn, as a Hopkins and a Pavlik fan I don't like this fight. Obviously Hopkins is a legend and has nothing to prove - when people look back at his loss against Calzaghe no one will critsize him because he was 43 and already done accomplished everything he needed to. He should hang 'em up and call...

I don't know why Hopkins is continuing on, history will be very kind to him on his last fight.. once this current climate settles down, I think there will be more people trying to figure out how he went out on a L with an opponent that could barely touch him. Fighting Pavlik is uncalled for, ...
