Last Saturday, WBO featherweight champ Steven Luevano and mandatory challenger Mario Santiago battled to a twelve-round draw at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The scrap was easily the fight of the night on the Manny Pacquiao-David Diaz undercard. The close fight, which saw both fighters hit the floor in the second-round, was stained with a one-sided 117-111 scorecard by one of the official judges. The judge in question gave very few rounds to Santiago.

Santiago has since sent a letter to the WBO, petitioning for an immediate rematch. Luevano told Primara Hora he will be more than happy to give Santiago a rematch if the WBO orders an immediate return bout. Santiago will await the WBO's decision, but says promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank told him that he was deserving of another chance at the title.

"Bob Arum said that we deserve a rematch," Santiago said. "Luevano knows that was not an easy fight for him. A rematch will test whether or not he won the fight. In the rematch, we are going to be more intelligent in the ring and I believe that we can knock him out."

shouldn't be "possible", it should be made. Santiago deserves another crack and Luevano needs to redeem himself.
