Former champion Daniel Santos can't see a way that Antonio Margarito will be able to overcome the more versatile WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto on July 26 in Puerto Rico. Santos, who holds a win over Margarito, thinks his countryman is more versatile and a better overall fighter at the weight.

"I believe that Cotto will impose himself because he is strong at the weight, he has the versatility and he always comes to the ring with a good tactical plan," Santos told El Nuevo Dia. "If he chooses to box, he can walk through the fight. Margarito does not have the resources of Cotto. Margarito has resistance, always comes to fight and has a decent punch.  But does not have versatility and he's not a technical fighter. He doesn't change his style, it's always the same thing.  Besides that, Cotto is younger and I think he is more motivated."

Santos has his own battle coming up on July 11 when he challenges unbeaten Joachim Alcine for the WBA junior middleweight title in the champion's backyard of Quebec, Canada. He's vowed to change his entire career around by winning.

"It's the rule of life. Because I lost the title, almost nobody come to see me in the gym and hardly anybody is calling me from the press. That will change when they see the new Daniel Santos," Santos said. "I've seen several of Alcine's fights and he does not fight back very well so we are going to put pressure on him. Aside from that, I have no specific strategy for the fight. As the rounds go by, I'm going to switch-up to his type of style and when I see the opportunity, I know that I'm going to take advantage of it. I'm preparing myself very well, physically, to not get tired for the full twelve-rounds. They say Alcine is a king in Canada, but he doesn't worry me."

[QUOTE=freedom213;3646912]let me tell you how it was, both guys had their moments but Santos had more and Santos was never known as a puncher but against Margarito he brawled and did pretty well. Margarito was also wobbled at least twice so its not out of the question that Cotto could hurt Margar...

I think Cotto's skill will be too much. I just think he's better than Margarito. You can't ever count Margarito out though.

Well this is coming from a man who got in the ring with margo twice and he has seen how Cotto has vastly improved his skills. I am with him on this one. Cotto will break margo's face with those nasty jabs
