At the Burg-Wächter Castello in Düsseldorf, Germany, Anselmo Moreno (22-1-1, 8 KOs) upset Wladimir Sidorenko (21-1-2, 7 KOs) to win a twelve-round unanimous decision, snapping the unbeaten streak of Sidorenko and captured the WBA bantamweight title. The scores were 116-113, 116-112 and 116-112.

Siderono, 5'4, had a issues with the height of the taller Moreno and was unable to get off with his punches. Sidorenko was making the seventh defense of the title he won from Julio Zarate in 2005. Moreno's sole loss was a split-decision to Ricardo Morena in 2002. He avenged the loss by stopping Moreno in nine-rounds when they met for a rematch in 2005 and then won a decision over Moreno in a trilogy bout a few months later.

In the co-feature Taras Bidenko (26-2, 12 KOs) won a ten-round unanimous decision over UK-favorite Michael Sprott (30-12, 15 KOs) in a heavyweight bout. The scores were 97-93, 97-94 and 97-93.

Goddamit!! I hope Moreno has interest in going to unify in Japan with Hasegawa. Hopefully Hasegawa vs Moreno would be for the The Ring belt (even if it's 1-3) because Hasegawa has beaten Veeraphol twice and Veerapool is #2 by the ring.
