The British Boxing Board of Control wants extra safety measures in place for the upcoming fight between British heavyweight rivals Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora.

They have asked promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport to avoid the two fighters having any "face-offs" in the upcoming pre-fight promotions. The British Board fears that a violent situation may erupt if the two boxers are placed too close to reach other.

The two boxers will collide on December 10th as part of the Anthony Joshua vs. Eric Molina undercard at Manchester Arena.

After a near physical confrontation earlier this year at a press conference, Whyte and Chisora scuffled during a recent filming of 'The Gloves  Are Off' in the Sky Sports studios, and security had to get immediately involved.

Chisora has been known for his pre-fight controversies during face-offs - from kissing a fighter on the lips, smacking Vitali Klitschko in the face, and having a very violent brawl with David Haye during a post-fight press conference in Germany.

In the pre-fight promotions for Chisora's fight with Haye in 2012, the two boxers were kept apart with a steel fence to prevent pre-fight violence.

Hearn is trying to work something out with the British Board that works for both sides.

Hearn told Sky Sports: "The board have requested that we do not have any further face-offs between Dillian and Dereck for safety reasons. I have spoken to them and I do feel it's important to have one for the fans' build-up and am working on ways to come up with the correct security measures that will satisfy the board."
