World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman predicts the fight between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 33KOs) and Gennady Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs), will be a super classic to savor after Canelo´s clash with Amir Khan, which culminated in a massive sixth round knockout.

The WBC has ordered the two boxers to face each other in the fall.

Sulaiman said  “the gravitational pull towards  a meteor shower/storm  between Canelo and  GGG, is irresistible,  and anticipated for a Las Vegas venue, or even possibly the Dallas Cowboys Stadium? “

Sulaiman revealed the fact that - “we went to Canelo and Golovkin, and both of them showed their intense interest  to get in the ring as soon as possible. They have  started to negotiate and they've got  a couple of weeks, if there is not an agreement we will have a purse bid. The side which  offers the most will earn

the rights of organizing the clash."

Mauricio also commented, “we're now talking about one of the most important fights of recent times, comparable with the Super Bowl or baseball's World Series."

Golovkin, who holds the WBA/IBO/IBF world middleweight titles, is the mandatory challenger to Canelo's WBC strap. Golovkin retained his belts in April with a two round knockout of mandatory challenger Dominic Wade, while Canelo made his voluntary defense last Saturday with the brutal KO of Khan.

If Canelo is unable to defend his belt per the WBC's order, then the sanctioning body will strip the Mexican superstar and name Golovkin as their world champion.
