Robert Garcia, trainer of former champion Brandon Rios (33-2-1, 24KOs), is not very happy with the money being offered for his fighter to travel to the UK for an August 29th clash with IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24KOs).

When Garcia recently traveled over to the UK to work the corner of Evgeny Gradovich for his title defense against Lee Selby, he spoke with Brook's promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport.

Garcia says their discussions were "not positive" because Hearn was making an unsatisfactory offer in terms of money.

Additionally, Hearn/Brook are demanding that Rios is unable to wear his Everlast MX gloves. The Everlast MX gloves are preferred by punchers. Garcia faced a similar dilemma last year, when Floyd Mayweather Jr. forced Marcos Maidana to abandon the Everlast MX gloves following their official weighin.

Brook-Rios is not dead in the water. Talks are ongoing between Hearn and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, who promotes Rios. Garcia is going to step back and let the promoters work out the details.

While the money is something they may be able to work out, Garcia says the British Boxing Board of Control is likely going to issue a countrywide ban on Everlast MX gloves.

"Yes we did [speak with Hearn]. Things weren't positive. He said 'your boy wants too much money.' Motherf***er you're bringing us to your hometown you gotta pay us. Another thing they said is that they're not gonna let us use the MX Everlast gloves - because they think they're Mayweather.  It wasn't positive. I come back and I'm reading that he's talking to Top Rank about the fight, so the fight is there. In front of me it wasn't positive, but when I get back there are phone calls to Bob Arum. So we're going to let them work it out," Garcia told Fight Hub.
