Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, says his fighter is ready to face Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez next May or next September.

Sanchez reacted to the recent comments that were made by Canelo's promoter, Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions.

Following Canelo's third round destruction of James Kirkland last Saturday night in Houston, De La Hoya said his company was interested in making the fight with Golovkin but "in the future."

Canelo is likely going to face WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto in the fall - if Cotto beats Daniel Geale next month.

"Of course we want [to fight him]. But in his fight last Saturday in Houston, if you listen to his promoter Oscar de la Hoya, he says they are interested in a meeting with Gennady - but in the future. We do not want it to happen within ten years. We are ready to face Canelo on May 5 and September 16, 2016," Sanchez told Rigo Cervantez.

Sanchez is willing to put his fighter in the ring with anyone, but his team is even having trouble getting mandatory challengers in the ring with him.

"What happens is that in every sanctioning body, you look to reach a deal to fight the official challenger, but none of them want to fight Golovkin," Sanchez said.
