In the sport of boxing, opponents can easily become stablemates in the gym. Former three division champion Miguel Cotto now finds himself in that position.

In 2009, Cotto was stopped in the twelfth round of his fight with Manny Pacquiao, who is trained by Hall of Fame coach Freddie Roach. After suffering back to back defeats to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Austin Trout, Cotto contacted Roach to retain his training services.

Cotto, with Roach in his corner, returned last June to stop Delvin Rodriguez in three rounds. The Puerto Rican superstar will be back on June 7th, when he challenges WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez.

Now that he's training sided by side with Pacquiao, and sharing the same trainer - would Cotto ever pursue a revenge match? It's not a question of wanting revenge, says Cotto, it's a question of weight.

A Cotto-Pacquiao rematch was seriously discussed in early 2012. The talks fell apart over the weight limit. Cotto, who was fighting at 154, was refusing to come down - and Pacquiao was refusing to fight any higher than 147.

With a move to 160 in the near future, the gap in weight has become even bigger - and as a result Cotto doubts they would ever meet again.

"Right now I'm at 160-pounds and he's at 147. I'm not going back to 147, because it's very difficult [to make the weight]," Cotto said.

Roach agrees.

"I don't see them fighting each other ever again, because Manny is a small 147-pounder and Miguel is fighting at 160 now, so I don't think that I'll have to worry about that," Roach said.
