The World Boxing Association is planning to strip Daniel Geale (28-1, 15KOs) of the middleweight "super title" - if he moves forward with a planned rematch against Anthony Mundine in early 2013. Last month in Germany, Geale won a twelve round split decision over Felix Sturm to unify the IBF/WBA titles. The WBA had ordered the winner to fight "regular" champion Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21KOs) next.

Golovkin has been waiting for a shot at the full title since at least 2010. A rematch with Mundine presents a lot more money for Geale and also gives him the opportunity to avenge his only career loss. If the rematch goes forward [and no deal is worked with Golovkin], then only Geale's IBF title will be at stake and Golovkin will be the full champion at the weight.
