Music executive Chris Lighty was found dead, according to multiple outlets. The New York Daily News reports that the hip hop veteran apparently shot himself in the head in his Bronx apartment. He was found at 11:30 a.m., police sources tell the paper, with a gun next to his body. Lighty was 44-year-old. Lighty was the chief operating officer at Primary Violator.

Lightly was the longtime manager of 50 Cent and brought with him a roster that included artists such as Mariah Carey, Soulja Boy, L.L. Cool J, Busta Rhymes and Diddy. Lighty supervised some 42 employees at Primary Violator.

 

According to the New York Daily News, Lightly may have been dealing with financial issues following a divorce last year which included owing millions to the IRS.

Over the years, Lighty had dabbled with the boxing business and at one time he was managing the career of former undisputed junior middleweight champion Ronald "Winky" Wright. And Lighty was also the CEO of Winky's promotional company, Winky Promotions.

50 Cent himself has recently started his own promotional group, TMT Promotions, and quickly signed Yuriorkis Gamboa, Andre Dirrell, Billy Dib and Celestino Caballero.
