Cameron Dunkin, manager of former lightweight champion Brandon Rios (30-0-1, 22KOs), has confirmed to BoxingScene.com that his boxer injured his right arm in training. Rios has been forced to withdraw from an HBO televised fight against Mauricio Herrera (18-2, 7KOs), which was scheduled for July 7th at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Dunkin says the injury is more of a bad sprain and not something too serious. However, Rios has been trying to shake it off for the last few days and his training camp has been affected. He was advised by a doctor to stay away from the gym for a week or two in order to heal the injury, which forced his withdrawal as the fight is less than a month away.

In the main event of the card, Nonito Donaire will face Jeffrey Mathebula in a super bantamweight unification. Top Rank is pondering several possibilities to replace Rios-Herrera.

UPDATE: Rios has tendonitis of the elbow on his right arm and the doctor told him to rest his arm for four weeks.
