Celaya, Guanajuato - In a tremendous display of power, Filipino Denver Cuello stopped Mexico's Ganigan Lopez in the second round, knocking him down twice, to retain the WBC silver strawweight title and winning a final eliminator to secure his mandatory right to fight for the title.

In emotional battle of southpaws, Cuello showed his speed and accuracy with hard left hands to score a knockdown in the first. Cuello used defense early in the second to avoid Lopez's charge, and then landed variety of punches to score another big knockdown.

Referee Frank Garza counted Lopez out at 2 minutes and 37 seconds. With this result, Denver Cuello (29-4, 14 KOs) won the right to challenge Japan's Kazuto Ioka, the WBC's full champion, and Ganigan Lopez fell to 28-5, 13 KO's.

In emotional battle in which both pressed with attacks, Robinson Castellanos retained the WBC world silver featherweight championship with scores of 115-112, 117-111 and 118-109. Castellanos record was raised to 27-9, 13 KOs, while Gonzalez fell to 16-4-1, 7KOs.
