Chris Meyer, the General Manager of Sauerland Event, discussed the big showdown between two of his star fighters, as WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (34-1, 25KOs) takes on WBA "regular" heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (23-0, 16KOs) on February 25th in Stuttgart, Germany.

Who is the favorite in this fight - Povetkin or Huck?

That's difficult to answer. I only know that the best man will win and the loser will participate in an excellent fight. Definitely, this fight will be like that. And therefore, there is essentially no loser.

A lot is at stake for Povetkin. Huck, in the event of of defeat, won't even lose his title. Do you find it a little unfair?

A loss for Huck would be a personal disaster. Therefore, I believe that he, too, has something to lose. We given Marco the opportunity to carry out his dream - to win the title at heavyweight. And how everything will turn in the ring, no one knows yet.

What is it like to make a fight between two fighters from your stable?

The matching of two of our boxers is always a very delicate matter, so these kind of fights are rare. I would call them "a double blow to the chest" for us. Indeed, with both athletes we have had very close, warm and cordial relations. Believe me, the organization of these fights are are very difficult.

What convinced you to make this match?

The desire of both athletes to have it take place.

Is it a bit early to say Huck is follow in the footsteps of Evander Holyfield? Evander, before moving to heavyweight, won all of the belts at cruiserweight and Huck only owns one piece of the title.

This was the desire of Marco - to step in the ring with Povetkin. Previously, he was challenging [Vitali] Klitschko, to which we were treated with a healthy share of humor. However, Alexander and his management have agreed to this fight, and we will organize it.
