At the Auditorio del Estado in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, WBO junior flyweight champion Giovani Segura (27-1-1, 23KOs) stopped Ivan Calderon (34-2-1, 6KOs) in the third round of their rematch. Last August, Segura stopped Calderon in eight rounds.

Last year, Calderon said there were pre-existing injuries, and other personal issues, that led to his defeat. After Saturday's rematch, Calderon had no excuses. He said Segura was too strong.

"We started well. I felt stronger than I did for the first fight. I went up to 113-pounds because I didn't want to get too heavy or get tired, and I wanted to keep my speed. But I felt his power. He dominated me with his strength," Calderon said.
