Former super middleweight ruler Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs) is still highly disappointed that a fight never came off with Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs), who holds three middleweight titles.

Ward is now focused on a run in the light heavyweight division with a planned fight against IBF/WBO/WBA champion Sergey Kovalev in the fall of 2016.

Roc Nation Sports, who promote Ward, tried to make the fight with Golovkin earlier this year, but they claim K2 Promotions, who promote Golovkin, turned down their offer almost immediately.

Ward says the offer was significant in terms of the money and points to their earning capacity over the last few years. Golovkin earned $2 million for his HBO Pay-Per-View debut against David Lemieux in October. Ward earned the same amount of money to face Paul Smith on BET in June. Ward also received $2 million for his win over Edwin Rodriguez in late 2013.

"Just take a look at the purses and I'll leave it at that," Ward stated during a recent roundtable.

"If anybody knows me I don't have to lie about these things. I just feel bad for the fans, because they are confused and they don't know [what's going on]. The trainer likes to talk a lot. The promoter likes to talk a lot."

The Olympic gold medal winner was open to disclose some telling emails that are saved on his phone between their respective promoters.

“I was willing to fight him anywhere, anytime. I can show you the texts between my people and his people. He just doesn’t want to fight me, period. He can come up with any excuse he wants to, but the fact is that the fans will never get to see this fight and it would have been a great one," Ward said.
