While it has been widely speculated that there is a rematch clause between Miguel Cotto and Saul Alvarez, who fought this past weekend at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. But that's not the case according to Eric Gomez, the vice president of Golden Boy Promotions, which represents Alvarez.

After twelve rounds of action, Canelo won a wide decision over Cotto top capture the vacant WBC middleweight title.

"No, there's not,' 'said Gomez on Tuesday afternoon from the GBP offices in Los Angeles. "No rematch clause, not at all."

But boxing first and foremost is a business and the belief is that business was good for Cotto-Canelo from a pay-per-view perspective. Some insiders are forecasting that this event will hit a million buys.

''We are hoping that it would be something around there. Anything around 750 (thousand) would've been a big success," said Gomez. "Once you get over 750 it's really, really good. So if it does end up hitting over a million, it's going to be great for us.''

So with that said, if the numbers are that robust, would that perhaps be an impetus for a rematch in 2016?

Gomez says - "I'd have to sit down with the team. Oscar (De La Hoya) right now he's on vacation, he doesn't even want to talk about any fight. But eventually we're going to sit down with 'Canelo' and see if he's willing to do a rematch."

The current plan is for Alvarez to fight again on Cinco De Mayo weekend.
