Hall of Fame legend, Roberto 'Hands of Stone' Duran, claimed Floyd Mayweather Jr. emulated aspects of his fighting style but never properly used it in the ring.

Duran discredits Mayweather's claim of being "the best ever." Mayweather ranks himself as the best pound-for-pound fighter of all-time.

Last month, Mayweather retired after his twelve round decision victory over Andre Berto. He walked away with an undefeated record of 49-0, and 26 of the wins by knockout.

Duran had his first fight in 1968 and his last in 2001. He put together a record of 103 wins, 16 defeats and 70 wins by knockout. Many of those fights were against the very best fighters of his era.

He weighed 119-pounds for his pro debut and fought as high as super middleweight. Along the way he captured belts at 135, 147, 154 and 160. Mayweather won world titles at 130, 135, 140, 147, 154.

The legendary fighter not only believes that he would have beaten Mayweather, Duran also feels that he holds a stronger claim to being recognized as the best pound-for-pound fighter of all-time.

"No, he is not [the best ever]. I feel I'm the number one, the number one in the world [on the all-time pound for pound list]. I fought in five decades. I am a six time world champion in four weight divisions and at that time we used to fight fifteen rounds," Duran said to BoxingScene.com.

"Floyd Mayweather learned my style. He learned my style and he didn't go nowhere [in using it]. If he were to fight me, I would defeat him. As I've always said, Floyd Mayweather would have never become anything during my timer period," Duran said.
