Former world champion Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) has added his name to list of fighters who are backing Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs) to defeat WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33KOs) on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The bout will headline an HBO Pay-Per-View event.

Cotto is trained by Freddie Roach, who used to train Khan. The British boxer left Roach in 2012 and hired coach Virgil Hunter. At one time Khan and Canelo were stablemates when both of them were promoted by Golden Boy Promotions. Khan's contract with Golden Boy expired last December.

"I think it will be an exciting fight, but I clearly think Canelo will win, and I even see him winning by knockout. I don't think Cotto can deal with youth, strength and speed of Canelo," said Khan.

Earlier this year, Khan was trying to get a fight with Cotto at the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds. The fight with Canelo takes place at 155. Because of scheduling issues as Cotto refused to fight prior to June, Khan took on Chris Algieri and Cotto fought Daniel Geale a week later.

Unless a deal can be reached for a fight with Manny Pacquiao in early 2016, Khan is going to return to the ring on a date in the fall.
