Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya (39-6-30KOs) is not surprised that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is interested in a rematch.

Last week, De La Hoya revealed that he's strongly considered the possibility of a comeback. The former five division world champion, 42-years-old, retired after suffering a TKO defeat to Manny Pacquiao in 2008.

During a media interview, also last week, Mayweather said he was very interested in facing De La Hoya in a rematch on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather won a twelve round split decision over De La Hoya in 2007. Their fight broke all existing financial and pay-per-view records and held many of those honors until last month's record crushing fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather.

There was a rematch clause in their bout agreement. Mayweather had no interest back then, and De La Hoya is not shocked he wants it now.

"Of course [I'm not shocked], because he has nobody else to fight. Obviously he needs me more than I need him," De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com.

Mayweather has since named Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield as potential foes.

"If you think about it, it's obviously the easy way out. He wants the easy way out as usual," De La Hoya said.
