During a recent interview filmed by BoxingScene's Ernest Gabion, former three division champion Marco Antonio Barrera said that if he doesn't get a fight with Manny Pacquiao, he will contemplate retirement.

"I want to fight Manny Pacquiao next. I'm coming towards the end of my career and what better way to go out by fighting one of the best fighters in the world," Barrera said.

Contrary to rumors, Barrera says there are no problems between him and his promotional company, Golden Boy Promotions. Currently Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions are engaged in a mediation to settle the issue as to which company has the legal right to promote Manny Pacquiao. If Pacquiao's promotional situation is not sorted out, it's unlikely that a rematch with Barerra will happen. Should Pacquiao fall through, Barrera says there is a good chance that he will retire.

"Retirement would possibly be the option for me. I will sit down with Golden Boy and see if they have a big name out there like a Manny Pacquiao or I will contemplate retirement," Barrera said.
